XRP Branding Comes to Louisville Basketball in New Ripple Deal

    Key Takeaways

    • XRP branding will appear permanently on Louisville’s home basketball court.
    • The Ripple deal covers both Louisville men’s and women’s basketball.
    • Ripple will also support finance and technology education at the university.

XRP Logo Gets Permanent Place on Denny Crum Court

Beginning this season, the XRP logo will appear permanently on Denny Crum Court at the KFC Yum! Center, where the University of Louisville men’s and women’s basketball teams play home games. The placement is part of a multiyear sponsorship agreement between Louisville Athletics and Ripple announced Sept. 15, which also gives XRP visibility across both basketball programs through additional arena, broadcast, and digital branding.

The new branding will coexist with the court’s existing tribute to former Louisville coach Denny Crum, whose insignia will remain inside the 3-point arc. XRP will also appear on television-visible courtside signage, other KFC Yum! Center placements and promotions, Louisville’s digital and social platforms, and radio broadcasts for both basketball programs.

Louisville Vice President and Director of Athletics Josh Heird described Ripple’s selection of the program as deliberate. Heird said:

“Ripple was very intentional about aligning with premier basketball brands, and we’re proud that Louisville was one of the programs they identified.”

Ripple will also support financial and technology education for University of Louisville student-athletes and the broader campus community. The programming will cover traditional finance and digital assets, adding an educational component to a sponsorship centered heavily on brand exposure. Ripple’s $25 million U.S. education commitment has also funded classroom projects nationwide, stipends for new teachers, and blockchain bootcamps at high schools.

Ripple Extends XRP Push Across Major College Sports

The Louisville agreement expands Ripple’s growing presence in U.S. college athletics after a series of partnerships that have placed XRP branding in highly visible sports settings. Earlier this month, XRP branding reached Florida field under a multiyear agreement between Ripple and Florida Athletics that reportedly generates $5 million annually.

That Florida sponsorship puts XRP branding on the field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium while also incorporating finance and technology education. Louisville takes a similar approach but concentrates the most prominent permanent branding on basketball, where the XRP logo will appear directly on the playing surface during home games.

Ripple’s college sports expansion began moving onto team uniforms earlier this summer. A July agreement with Kansas Athletics put XRP branding on Jayhawk uniforms across the university’s athletic program. Ripple described that deal as the first cryptocurrency sponsorship to appear on the jersey of a major college athletics program.

The sequence gives XRP several distinct forms of college sports exposure: uniforms at Kansas, football field branding at Florida, and permanent basketball court placement at Louisville.

XRP Deal Adds to Ripple’s University Strategy

XRP is the native digital asset of the XRP Ledger, or XRPL, and is separate from Ripple, the technology company. Ripple’s XRP overview describes the asset as supporting payments, liquidity, and other financial applications, while XRPL operates as an open-source blockchain designed to settle transactions within seconds.

The Louisville deal puts XRP itself in front of fans during basketball games. The XRP Ledger uses XRP as its native digital asset for transactions and liquidity across the network.

Ripple has also spent years developing relationships with universities outside sports sponsorships. Through its University Blockchain Research Initiative, the company said in October 2025 that it had supported more than 60 universities worldwide and committed more than $80 million to academic research since 2018.

That program expanded with a University of San Francisco partnership and renewed university funding. Ripple’s academic collaboration initiative included more than $1.5 million in renewed partnerships funded in Ripple USD, alongside research and education projects covering blockchain technology, policy, and real-world applications.

Louisville’s agreement brings that education-and-branding approach directly into another major college sports program. Beginning this season, the XRP logo will remain on Denny Crum Court for every Louisville home game while Ripple supports financial and technology education across the university community.
