Polygon Adds Solana to Open Money Stack in Major Expansion

    Key Takeaways

    • Polygon Labs integrated Solana into its Open Money Stack to unify bank transfers, cross-chain routing, and payouts.
    • The expansion unlocks access to Solana’s $5 trillion stablecoin market with guaranteed all-in enterprise pricing.
    • Kira has adopted the system as Polygon’s U.S. payments arm extends regulatory coverage across 48 states.

    Streamlining Cross-Border Money Movement

Polygon Labs announced on Oct. 29 the expansion of its Polygon Open Money Stack to Solana, giving businesses a single integration to move money from bank accounts, transfer cryptocurrency across networks, and pay customers and suppliers.

Kira, which connects U.S. banking and stablecoins for cross-border businesses, is among the first customers adopting Solana in the Open Money Stack.

For a business, sending crypto is only part of making a payment. Moving money from a bank account into a wallet, trading it, and transferring it back into a recipient’s bank account often requires several providers.

Polygon Open Money Stack consolidates those capabilities. A business building on Solana can connect funding, accounts, wallets, cross-chain routing, and payouts through one technical connection and one commercial relationship. Businesses can adopt the full stack or use individual components alongside their existing systems.

“Every bank and fintech that wants to use crypto faces the same problem: connecting them to the accounts and payment systems its customers already use,” said Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder and CEO of Polygon Foundation, in a statement. “Open Money Stack brings those connections together. Adding Solana means more businesses can build on the network their customers choose and use Polygon to handle the money movement around it.”

Addressing how the integration expands Polygon’s addressable enterprise market compared to its existing footprint of Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible networks, Marc Boiron, CEO of Polygon Labs, noted that liquidity access is the primary driver for enterprises.

“Enterprises put less value on which network a payment runs on and more value on having it be the network where funds are already available,” Boiron told Bitcoin.com News. “Many of their customers and partners for Polygon Open Money Stack already hold stablecoins on Solana, so bringing Solana to the Open Money Stack lets them execute transactions in the environment they prefer. With Solana integrated in the Open Money Stack, liquidity scattered on other networks and Solana can be easily moved anywhere needed for a payment to be made.”

Through the Polygon Open Money Stack, businesses can fund payments, move money across networks, and deliver payouts by connecting supported bank, card, and crypto routes directly to Solana products. The platform also enables cross-network money movement between Solana and other supported chains with built-in routing, conversion, and transaction execution.

    Price Predictability and Enterprise Adoption

To mitigate unpredictable costs associated with cross-chain execution and floating foreign exchange rates, Boiron explained that the platform provides enterprises with price transparency.

“Our approach is to give the enterprise a quoted, all-in price before execution and lock it until the quote expires, so FX and cross-chain execution costs don’t show up as an unpredictable post-trade pass-through,” Boiron said. “The quote reflects the applicable conversion and execution costs, while Polygon Open Money Stack routes based on price, liquidity, and other approved criteria. Polygon may absorb costs at times where economics allow it.”

Meanwhile, Solana Foundation Chief Product Officer Vibhu Norby highlighted in a statement that Solana’s $5 trillion-plus in 2026 stablecoin volume shows growing demand for connecting the network to traditional banking and payout systems. He noted that Polygon Open Money Stack gives companies an additional way to leverage these features while supporting existing Solana infrastructure.

    Real-World Implementation

Kira is using Polygon Open Money Stack to expand stablecoin options for fintechs, OTC desks, and import brokers. Its clients can open U.S. dollar accounts, send and receive payments through supported bank rails, pay suppliers abroad, and move between stablecoins and dollars.

“We already use Solana to move stablecoins, and working with Polygon helps us turn those transfers into dollars in our clients’ bank accounts when they need to pay suppliers,” said Edrizio De La Cruz, CEO and co-founder of Kira, in a statement.

The Solana expansion follows Polygon Open Money Stack’s recent addition of Tron network support and Polygon’s completed acquisition of Coinme. Polygon’s U.S. payments business supports operations across 48 states. Polygon Chain, an Ethereum scaling network and settlement rail within the Polygon Open Money Stack, has surpassed $3 trillion in cumulative stablecoin transfer volume.
