Blackrock Drives $191M Bitcoin ETF Inflow as Shorts Bet on Pullback

    Key Takeaways

    • Bitcoin ETFs drew $190.65M on Thursday, extending their inflow streak to six sessions.
    • Blackrock led broad gains as ether, solana, XRP, and HYPE funds also attracted capital.
    • Traders will test whether ETF demand can offset rising bitcoin shorts and $3B+ Hyperliquid OI.

Bitcoin ETF Buying Hits 6 Straight Days

    Institutional demand kept building Thursday.

Bitcoin ETFs recorded their sixth straight day of inflows, adding $190.65 million as investors continued to rebuild exposure after sharp volatility affected markets earlier this month.

Blackrock’s IBIT once again carried most of the load, attracting $162.63 million. Fidelity’s FBTC added $12.86 million, while Morgan Stanley’s MSBT brought in $10.16 million. Franklin’s EZBC gained $4.88 million, and Bitwise’s BITB added $4.13 million. Wisdomtree’s BTCW recorded the only outflow at $4.02 million.

Daily trading volume reached $2.27 billion, while net assets closed at $108.92 billion. The persistent buying keeps attention firmly on bitcoin’s price, which has benefited from a renewed wave of institutional demand across the crypto market.

    Ether Stretches Its Winning Run

Ether ETFs also stayed firmly in the green, posting $66.01 million in net inflows and marking a fifth consecutive positive session for the group.

Blackrock’s ETHA led with $26.81 million, followed by Fidelity’s FETH with $21.45 million. Grayscale’s Ether Mini Trust added another $17.75 million. Trading activity reached $771.91 million, while net assets closed at $17.70 billion.

The steady pace of inflows suggests ether continues to participate in the latest institutional rebound, even as bitcoin remains the dominant destination for capital.

    Solana and XRP Keep Pace

Solana ETFs delivered one of the stronger altcoin readings of the day, attracting $32.81 million. Bitwise’s BSOL accounted for $27.97 million, while Fidelity’s FSOL added $4.84 million. Trading value reached $115.97 million, with net assets ending at $1.81 billion.

XRP ETFs brought in another $14.89 million. Bitwise’s XRP fund led with $9.91 million, followed by Franklin’s XRPZ at $4.98 million. Trading value totaled $44.22 million, while net assets rose to $1.70 billion.

HYPE ETFs also finished higher, adding $4.77 million entirely through Bitwise’s BHYP. Net assets closed at $513.66 million.

ZEC ETFs recorded no net flows for a second straight day, although combined assets reached the $1 billion mark.

    Derivatives Market Flashes Caution

ETF flows have strengthened sharply this week, though derivatives markets are sending a more guarded signal.

Brian Huang, co-founder and CEO of Glider, noted that bitcoin’s open interest has returned to levels last seen in May. Hyperliquid alone has surpassed $3 billion in BTC open interest during the latest move.

Huang also pointed to the basis turning negative, commenting:

When the basis flips while open interest increases, it means shorts are adding to their positions. So overall, while ETF inflows spiked this week, traders are betting the move up will be short-lived.

That creates an unusual backdrop for bitcoin. ETF demand remains strong, while parts of the derivatives market are positioning for a possible pullback.

For now, institutional buying continues to set the tone. Thursday’s broad inflows suggest appetite remains healthy across the major crypto ETF categories.
